Sunday 2 Dec 12 Quaich Challenge

Class : All BHC PHC Races : 1

OOD :Duncan Fraser

The Quaich (pronounced quake), was presented to the club by the chieftain of the Caledonian Society of Sri Lanka in 2007, is a special kind of shallow two-handled drinking cup or bowl in Scotland. It derives from the Scottish Gaelic cuach meaning a cup

Quaich Challenge - 2nd December 2012

We ran the Quaich for the seventh time. Conditions were challenging with the North East monsoon battling it out with the westerly sea breeze. That must be the excuse for the three capsizes we saw.

The two races were won by Frank & Martin.

Another unique feature of the Quaich was the Scottish world champion pipers & drummers from the Dollar Academy
